Round one of heat one is in the water at the Reef Hawaiian Pro in Haleiwa, Hawaii. While the waves are not spectacular, it’s still the North Shore. A small two-to-three foot northwest swell is working its way in, making for what is supposed to be contestable surf. The event is set to run from now until Wednesday with 20 minute heats, because up until now, the waiting period has been flat. Now there’s only three days left. The forecast is calling for the swell to increase throughout the day, hold tomorrow, then taper off on Wednesday. Included this year is the Clash of the Legends where Reef has invited Rob Machado, Shane Dorian, Ross Williams, and Kalani Robb to try for the $20,000 prize purse.
