Vans has officially announced the upcoming 2024 Pipe Masters. Of course, being the pre-eminent event in competitive surfing, it wasn’t exactly a mystery as to where and when it will run, but a press release from the WSL provided some key details on the upcoming annual North Shore specialty invitational event.

Since 2022, the Pipe Masters has featured a unique, non-elimination leaderboard format. In it, surfers participate in three rounds of heats, in which the three highest-scoring waves are counted. From there, the top four women and men will advance to the finals. This year, the winners will be awarded from total prize purse of $300,000, with men and women receiving equal prize money.

The competition will feature a roster handpicked by Vans and officially sanctioned by the World Surf League, but the full list of surfers is not available as of yet. However, the announcement confirmed that it will include Imaikalani DeVault, Puamakamae DeSoto, Bella Kenworthy, Molly Picklum, Noa Deane, Balaram Stack, Mason Ho, Makana Pang, Nathan Florence, Vaihitimahana Inso, Tosh Tudor, Caity Simmers, and Harry Bryant.

The 2024 Pipe Masters is scheduled for December 8-20, 2024, at Pipeline, on Oahu’s North Shore.
