There’s a little over a week to go until the US Open of Surfing. The latest edition of the long-running event will take place at the Huntington Beach Pier from August 3 to 11 and, in addition to the Challenger Series and Longboard Tour competitions taking place on the water, the WSL has announced a number of accompanying events on land. The latest news is that skateboarding will return to the open with the Lexus X Games Vert Pro.
The X Games hosted event will take place on the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier, where a massive vert ramp will be set up right on the beach. There, fans will get to watch the likes of 12-time X Games medalist Jimmy Wilkins, 16-time medalist Elliot Sloan, Tony Hawk’s protege, 12-year-old Reese Nelson and more skate in competitions taking place over both weekends of the open.
