The Inertia

Tyler Warren is an artist, in every sense of the word. Art, though, isn’t just something tangible–although it most certainly is that as well–it can take many forms. Warren’s surfing itself is art. It’s reminiscent of the surfing of yesteryear: flowing and smooth, soulful and quick.  To make a tired cliché, he draws lines on a wave’s canvas like no one else. Of course, he also makes “real” art, but that’s a story for a different day.

Tyler Warren likes to get his hands dirty. Most of the boards he rides are boards he’s been elbow deep in, refining all the nooks and crannies that make a board magic. Since the boards come from somewhere in his own head, they translate perfectly to his own surfing, and it’s a pleasure to watch.
