13-year-old Ty Simpson-Kane just fulfilled his lifelong dream of surfing the heaviest wave in the world, Pe’ahi (Jaws). Obviously, Ty is not your typical 13-year-old surf grom. Born and raised on Maui’s north shore, he looks looking up to generations of big wave surfers. With that, he’s already put in years of charging all over Maui and the rest of Hawai’i.
And like many other Maui kids, Ty is a true waterman who is always surfing, fishing, diving, stand up paddling, and connecting with the ocean.
