The Inertia

Brad Jacobson has made a hobby out of designing surfboards to torture Travis Logie. First it was a Lego-covered surfboard that actually made him bleed, and now it’s a board covered in sandpaper.

“Travis and I had a bet,” wrote Jacobson in the description of his YouTube video. ”One match of tennis and the loser had to ride either a Lego surfboard (from my previous episode) or surf a sandpaper-lined surfboard. Travis lost and chose the sandpaper.”

After a spiteful trip to the hardware store, Jacobson arms himself with 60-grit sandpaper and a roll of double-sided tape to create another board that will shred the surfer more than the wave. The end result immediately raises the eyebrows of its test rider. “Hopefully you chose reasonable sandpaper…you did not,” says Logie as he inspects the watercraft.

Though the similarity to grip tape on a skateboard makes the sandpaper board seem at least marginally more practical than the Lego abomination, the result somehow ends up being worse for its rider. Logie dons a wetsuit this time, lest he end up actually flayed, but his hands and feet still receive significant punishment from the board.

“Revenge is incoming, trust me,” says Logie at the end of the video. The torture board arms race is on, and it’s not going to be pretty.
