Hurricane Joaquin hasn’t caused as much destruction as initially anticipated by experts, but the four-block paddle to check the surf in Ocean City, New Jersey was no joke today. We saw: a BMW completely submerged and stalled out, several traffic jams, and a few buildings with their bottom floors filled up with tons of water.
We’re hoping the worst of the flooding is over, because it’s about time the wind turns west and the ocean cleans up a bit. There’s some sizable waves coming through, but conditions are still a bit out of control at the moment. Still, I couldn’t help but go for a paddle this morning. Here’s what my Saturday morning commute to check the waves looked like.
