If you’re thinking of going on a surf trip, it’s not likely that the first place you think of going is the Arctic in the dead of winter. You probably think of somewhere warm and tropical, possibly with swaying palm trees and cold drinks with little umbrellas and bits of fruit in them. Or you think of somewhere hot and dusty with food that might give you the shits served with really cheap beer. Either way you slice it, the Arctic isn’t the usual surf adventure. But Torren Martyn, that man of many twin fins, that owner of some of the best style in the surfing game, has been there, done that. That why he’s been going to the Arctic for the last few years in search of empty waves and that little something extra that one only gets from a surf trip to a wild place.
