It takes a certain type of person to decide that driving through the night to be greeted with -3° temperatures (and wind chill, to boot) is fun. But that’s just what many surfers do, and when the charts line up, you just have to commit and make that call, knowing that first glimpse of tomorrow’s dawn will make it all worthwhile. Greeted with that first clean overhead set, just barely visible in the early morning light. With excited grins and bleary eyes, you look at each of your accomplices, and with a silent nod to each other, you know it was worth the call.
