Tim Bonython makes a living documenting terrifying waves. Whenever it starts firing at Shippies, Solander, Nazare, or any number of pants-ruining, heavy breaks, you can count on Tim to show up with his camera and make a meal of it.
However, as I’m sure many of you have also felt, lately it’s been unseasonably quiet. “On a swell chase, and it’s been so long. It’s been actually the worst winter I can remember for the east coast, really nothing that exciting to chase,” said Bonython while driving to his latest conquest. “This time, finally, it’s only a couple of weeks before I head overseas and we’re going to get something really special. There’s a lot of hype on this place – not many places to surf besides this spot. I’ve shot it once before. It’s just the most insane left-hand slabbing barrel. When it’s on, it’s really, really good.”
The result is Bonython’s latest edit, SuperNatural. Though it was a long time coming, the footage does not disappoint. As Tim summarized at the top of the video, “It’s dangerous, it’s exciting, and I can’t wait to get there.”
