When you think of Lower Trestles, you think of split peaks. And long, open face lefts and rights. But not barrels.
However, from time to time, Lowers will release a throaty one for a lucky surfer to enjoy. On this day, that lucky surfer happened to be 11-time world champ Kelly Slater. Better yet, this rare moment happened during the finals of the 2010 Hurley Pro. In true Kelly form, he cleanly navigated the barrel and finished the wave off with a few impressive cutbacks on his way to beating Bede Durbidge and claiming the contest — and, eventually, another world title.
