The Inertia

Humanity has a thing where it can’t do anything fast enough, high enough or far enough. It couldn’t run fast enough so it sat on horses. Then its horses couldn’t run fast enough so it sat in cars. It couldn’t swim fast enough or far enough so it made boats and oars, then boats with motors. It made things that allowed it to breathe underwater and things that allowed it to comb the depths of the sea. It made things that float and sink and won’t collapse under the enormous pressure. In the name of recreation, humanity made things that tie to the back of a boat that people can stand on or sit on and lie down on.

In that vein, Subwing decided that being on top of the water behind a boat was only a part of how much fun we could be having, so they made a wing that enables us to fly beneath the surface. Sure, we still have to breathe, but this is as close to flying underwater as humanity can get.
