Recently, videographer Steve Cummings, aka JacuzziSurfer, shared an edit from what was one of the best days to hit Nazaré in 2019. As he mentioned, it was nowhere near as big as Nazaré is capable of getting but the swell direction and great conditions came together perfectly, making us declare this 50- to 60-foot range might be Nazaré’s sweet spot.
The day still had its sketchy moments, though as evidenced by another edit Cummings pieced together from the day. It’s impossible to miss early on: Ross Clarke Jones gets launched into a set wave, having no idea just how close the jet ski is to not making it out of the wave safely…or at all. Watch as the ski makes an emergency exit out the back and let it sink in just how many moving parts are in a Nazaré lineup, always right on the edge of complete chaos.
