Remember the J-Bay event? Yeah, you do. It’s a hard one to forget–there were all those 10s. There was THAT wave. And man, oh man, were the waves ever firing. Quite often, though, the best surfing goes down outside of the watchful eye of the judges. That’s probably because to win an event (most of the time) “safe” surfing is the way to go.
So, after a slow start to the waiting period, when the waves well and truly showed up, the world’s best surfers, including Toledo, JJF, Jordy, Josh Kerr, Stu Kennedy, Parko and a more, took to the lineup before and after the horns sounded. And damn, was it ever a show.
