The Inertia

Nate Florence’s POV videos are a nugget of realistic gold among the hordes of over-edited and almost too-good-to-be-true surf vlogs on the internet. They give the everyday surfer a front-row seat to some of the world’s best and scariest waves. The video above is no different. A massive south swell lit up Teahupo’o over the past few days, a siren’s call for the gnarliest surfers on the planet, and chargers like Nate Florence, the Chumbo brothers, and Matahi Drollet answered.

Although Nate only makes a handful of waves in the video, it’s well worth a watch. Despite a broken board, a near 15-second hold down, and a few gnarly spills inside the tube, when everyone else turns to the tow-boards, Nate keeps on paddling, dodging set waves and tow-surfers alike. And with a clean make to end the session (at 16:00) Nate would probably tell you that it was all worth the effort.
