Nazaré is a wonder of the world. An offshore canyon, nearly 16,000 feet deep, points at a tiny fishing village. Acting as a funnel, it takes winter swells and magnifies their energy before puking them out as giant–and only sometimes rideable–waves. It’s a perfect spot for cameras. The lighthouse is a striking landmark, perched atop a towering cliff. Beneath, the massive waves dash themselves to pieces on the face.
The last few weeks there have been ones for the history books. Filmmaker Kylian Castells has been training his lens from the clifftop, and along with Art director Hector Menendez, created a short video that’s different from any other Nazaré you’ve ever seen.
