Tandem surfing can be all the rage. But possibly the most interesting tandem partner would have to be a baby seal, or any kind of marine life for that matter. This is the most “Awww”-inducing union of two surfers, mainly because the seal is having such a tough time staying on the board. A little wax might’ve solved that, but still, adorable.
As Matt Stanley, one of the surfers in the video, put it, “Me and my friend Andrew Flounders were out enjoying some summer waves when this little guy came along and scared the hell out of Andy because we didn’t know what it was! It nudged his foot from underneath.” Normally, that would be enough to spook any surfer, but one look, we’d imagine, changes all that when it ends up being this little guy.
Apparently, the two played around with the baby seal for about an hour or so, and then turned in. The little guy apparently hadn’t had enough and tried to follow them up the beach. Matt went on to say, “When we got home, Andy rang the local marine wildlife authority to make them aware of what occurred just in case the seal was unwell… He didn’t seem unwell when he was surfing in like a pro!”
