Wetsuits are kind of a pain in the ass. Depending on where you live, you might need a variety of different suits for different seasons. Of course, if you live somewhere with really cold water, you generally just need one, no matter how warm the outside temperature gets. But for many, buying three or four wetsuits can be a real hassle. That’s why a Alyx Tortorice and Madeline Javier created something a little different. It’s a wetsuit with interchangeable parts, allowing women to switch their suits without buying a whole new suit. Essentially, it’s seven wetsuits in one.
Of course, the main issue with wetsuits is the seals. That’s part of every wetsuit manufacturer’s sales pitch: welded seams, bonded seams, dry-stitched seams, etc. Starfysh wetsuits use something called the S. Lock closure system, which, after months of trial and error with snaps and zippers, turned out to be the best way to link each different part of the wetsuit together.
