
Way back in 1928, a group of ocean lifeguards got together in South Jersey to have a little friendly competition. It consisted of three races: a one and a half mile doubles rowing competition, a half-mile ocean swim, and a 1000-foot singles rowing competition.
Since then, the contest has morphed–and this year, it morphed into something awesome: the Longport Beach Patrol Shoot the Seas contest, which, as you can see in the video above, is a whole bunch of people surfing (surprisingly well) in rowboats.
