Desert Point certainly isn’t what it used to be. Case in point, this chaotic run-in recently that certainly takes mid-wave conflict to another level. Puerto Escondido’s Alejandro Garza was on a wave at the Point when this little back and forth action went down.

“I’m the guy with the pink shirt , so this guy dropped on the wave behind me after I was already on the wave,” he wrote in the comments of the post by one Rory Pringle.  “He pushes me down and then yells at me saying he can catch every wave he wants because he is Brazilian and been surfing at Deserts for 20 years.”

The unidentified surfer doing the pushing was not immediately available for comment, so of course we don’t have his side (did Garza drop-in or did the tackler get up late?), but this is the reality at Desert Point these days. The crowd has certainly turned.
