HOLLANDSCH PT 1.37 from OFF THE RICHTER on Vimeo.
“HOLLANDSCH” is a short film about the moments we get to enjoy in our fickle, shitty, but sometimes beautiful North Sea. We had the idea of documenting sessions in a way that really captures how we really see the typical Dutch surf sessions. Whether it’s shitty or not, it always brings a little magic into our day-to-day lives.
The spot where this is filmed is called the Maasvlakte, a huge industrial area at the entrance of Rotterdam. A couple years back, a massive sand suppletion project was put in action to create more land (~100 acres) for the harbor of Rotterdam (called Maasvlakte II). The spot is super fickle and only works with a certain swell and wind direction. Sure enough, the “Siberian Bear” depression a couple week back brought us cold weather and a solid NE swell, which is perfect for this spot. This is Yannick de Jager and Oli Adams surfing it.
