The Inertia

This group of kayak fishermen run guided trips out of Los Buzos Resort in Panama. They don’t always have clients. So what do they do on their days off? They go chase giant fish. One of the guides hooks into what the group estimates is a 500-pound marlin and it pulls them 15 miles out to sea. As the day wears on, the ocean becomes choppy as the conditions deteriorate – especially if one is sitting in a tiny plastic kayak.

You can skip through the vid to see the hook, which happens up front, then the release, which happens after the six hour fight. Oh, and then they run out of gas after chasing the beast all day. It takes a team effort to land these monsters. Wouldn’t you like to be chasing fish like these right about now? Or maybe surfing Panama’s Santa Catalina?
