The Inertia

Depending on your age, you may or may not remember a time when people wore webbed gloves for surfing. In the late eighties, for what felt like about a month, they were everywhere. Brad Gerlach wore them, they plastered those back pages of surfing mags, and they weren’t considered kooky. Like many fads in surfing, though, they quickly fell by the wayside. And, like many fads in surfing, they have reappeared (kind of). Much like the twin fin resurgence and neon zinc, a version of the webbed glove has made its way back onto the market. Time will tell, though, whether Hydra Hands (which, according to Hydra Hands, increase your paddling efficiency by 23 percent) show up in a lineup near you again.
