Fresh off the press from indie video game developer Bungarra Software out of Perth in Western Australia comes Barton Lynch Pro Surfing 2022. The game will begin its rollout this spring season, hitting the Xbox One and Steam Early Access first, with Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 versions dropping later this year.
The game seeks to build off of the success of similar sports video games such as the Madden, NBA 2K, and FIFA video game series, bringing the same sort of pro-sports focused game to the world of surfing. And similar to Madden (named after American Football Hall of Fame coach and commentator John Madden) they’ll be working with beloved pro surfer and commentator Barton Lynch to serve as the games titular character, and we’ve got to assume he’ll be commentating as well.
With both career mode and freesurfing mode, a slew of different locations across the world, real-life brand integration so you can ride your favorite boards from Arakawa, Channel Islands, and others, as well as the ability to fine-tune weather conditions to create your own perfect waves, it looks like there’ll be something for everyone, surfer-gamers, non-gaming surfers, and gaming non-surfers alike.
