Newport Beach is certainly known for its 4th of July parties and it always seems like the Wedge finds a way to be featured in the city-wide celebration. With Independence Day falling smack in the middle of the wave’s peak season, the Wedge often sets off its own fireworks show for local surfers.
This wasn’t the first big swell to hit on the fourth and probably won’t be the last. In fact, plenty of people were quick to point out that while Sunday saw some solid surf, it still wasn’t as good as last year’s Independence Day. However, the beach wasn’t closed this time due to a pandemic.
