Whenever the name Chris Ward is mentioned, two things come to mind: he parties hard and surfs even harder. And it wouldn’t be crazy to think that that’s all there is to him. This is because pretty much every old school Lost movie flaunted Wardo lighting shit on fire, destroying his surfboards, chasing chicks, and skulling enough beers to kill a small animal. But underneath the party boy image, Chris Ward, first and foremost, is a phenomenal surfer.
In Epictv’s latest installment, Wardo talks about his hometown of San Clemente, CA and how it shaped and inspired his surfing career. He talks about his childhood influences, including Andy Irons, Corey Lopez, Dino Andino, Matt Archibold, and the Fletchers. But Wardo, like anyone, has had his ups and down. Having to deal with his father being diagnosed with brain cancer while trying to provide for his family through surfing would make even a saint spend a few nights in the can. Let us all acknowledge Wardo for his accomplishments, not his faults.
