Here’s the truth about surfing in Los Angeles — the South Bay region, to be exact: first off, forget the social media posts you see of inviting barrels. Yes, they exist, but photographers and videographers like myself only post the best waves of the day and, more importantly, almost every one of those barrels you see slammed shut and sent somebody into the washing machine precisely one frame after the image that makes you do a double-take.
