The Right just enjoyed its season opener a little early this year. Typically popping off for the first time around April, the conditions weren’t quite perfect but still ripe enough to draw a crowd.
“A few teething problems with equipment occurred,” photographer Trent Slatter told The Inertia, “but good to iron out the kinks before winter swells arrive.”
According to Slatter, opening day featured some new faces in the lineup, which packed the channel with skis — a bit weird for a Tuesday morning with iffy conditions, he pointed out. Nonetheless, we couldn’t help but sit and gawk at a handful of the images Slatter shared with us, including an insane sequence featuring surfer Henry Davies, showing a truly unique perspective of one really fascinating, really mean wave.
