The Inertia

Nobody will ever mistake Lowers for one of the heaviest waves in the world. But it’s hard to argue it isn’t one of the most fun.

Surely, you’ve noticed there are waves on the West Coast this week. And no other place in all of California is as hot of a hotspot as Trestles when a south swell rolls through. Videographer Steve Cummings, aka Jacuzzi Surfer, has been doing his fair share of driving around Southern California this weekend in honor of the event, starting the week off with a Rob Machado sighting, then the obligatory visit to the Wedge, and now, of course, a day at Lowers.

The crowds are as to be expected: thick. But there’s a method to the madness of all these people who fight and scrap for their pick of a Lowers gem at the peak of a swell. You see, getting just one of these waves can be fun enough to hold you over for quite a while. And that’s worth something.
