The Inertia

There aren’t too many things better than watching a good wipeout. It closely rivals watching a good wave, which closely rivals surfing a good wave. Of course, for most people, surfing waves the size of the ones that showed up for the Peahi Challenge will never be a possibility, and so we watch in that same awe-struck way we watch a car chase on television or Evel Knievel jump over flaming buses.

We watch people with enough courage skill push themselves to the very limits, and far beyond. We watch people catch waves that look like they should kill, but rarely do. We watch them walking the finest of tightropes, and hope for either dazzling success or wonderful failure. It is all so great. Are we not entertained?
