Strong winds and big waves are a deadly combo. But after a slow season on the North Shore of Oahu, surf-starved surfers were game to give it a go for a big west swell during the final days of March 2017. While offshore winds came funneling through Waimea Valley, big wave surfers struggled to make it over the ledge. The crowded lineup added to the drama ending in an epic wipeout reel of big wave carnage.
