Morocco. It’s a land of desolate beaches, lots of sand, and long, peeling point breaks. The Kleins. They’re a loving family of four from Israel. Yoni Klein, a 31-year-old doctor from Tel Aviv and two-time Israeli champion surfer. Caity Griffin-Klein, 28 years old from Encinitas, California and the 2020 Israeli longboard champion. Their two kids, Teva (two-and-a-half years old) and Kaya (one-and-a-half years old). Just add swell, and you’ve got a recipe for a feel-good family trip equal parts perfect waves and scrapbook gold.
With solid swell hitting the Moroccan coast in February (the same swell that Billy Kemper suffered his recent injury in), the Kleins packed up their kids and a few boards and traded their Mediterranean coastline for the Atlantic. Morocco is a place close to their hearts. After meeting in the Maldives, Yoni and Caity (often referred to as the Jack Freestone and Alana Blanchard of the Mediterranean) had their first surf trip as a couple to Morocco. As the video above shows, it’s a land and a coastline that they both know well.
