Living on the Westside of Maui, it can be pretty tough to leave my zone. We get winter and summer swells all within a 15-minute drive, all turning out most of the best waves on the entire island. This is why any time I see people from other parts of the island they joke and call me Westside Opihi, a reference to a Hawaiian shellfish that is usually stuck to one rock for most of its life. But now, as I grow older, I’m learning there are plenty of cool zones on the island outside of my 15-minute bubble to go adventure, film, and find sick waves.
