He says he wants to be a better surfer when he’s 50 than he is now. Personally, I would take being as good as Kelly Slater at any point in his lifetime. But if ever a dude existed whose lofty goals we shouldn’t doubt, it’s the 11-time World Champ. His professional career has spanned three decades now and he’s been the man throughout every single one of them. So what, if anything, inspires the world’s best surfer after holding that spot for so long? It’s still just about getting better. Eight minutes of flashbacks is a perfect way to look back and realize he’s going to do just that.
