About a year and a half ago the idea of making a full length surf movie came up in our group of friends. We live in Carlsbad, California and our group goes by the name of Ponto Troll Crew (PTC) – basically a bunch of talented groms who love to surf and create.
I feel like we have a super unique group so I took that opportunity to film and document as much as I could in the last year and put together a movie. We ended up teaming up with another local company called Lipstick Surf Co. run by Austin Faure and Noah Crider who sponsor a bunch of the kids in our group.
This helped us make the movie even bigger and better than we had originally planned. We ended up collaborating with 5 different editors, 16 filmers, and 28 surfers and skaters.
The film features locations from Southern California, Oregon, Nicaragua, Hawaii and Mavericks. It took two and a half months to edit and when it was all said and done we ended up with a 40 minute original movie.
We premiered it free to a maxed out crowd with over 400 people at La Paloma Theater in Encinitas. Even though the movie is over it isn’t our last project. We have already started filming for future projects and are all upgrading equipment to make our next productions even better.
