Mick Fanning surfs fast. Like, really fast. Fast enough to earn the moniker “White Lightning.” So when he likes a surfboard because it’s got a lot of speed, that means something. And the DHD Utopia is that surfboard.
The shape came to life when Mick Fanning and Darren Handley were designing the MF Twin. During that process, they messed around with a lot of different ideas: outlines, rockers, concaves, and fin measurements, to name a few.
Not only did they create the MF Twin, but the Utopia was born, too. It’s the fastest board that Mick has ever ridden, and as a speed guy, he’s ridden a lot of fast surfboards. It will not, as you know, make you surf like Mick Fanning — but it might help you have just a little bit more fun while you try.
