If we get conditions like this for the main event at Teahupo’o (the forecast is mixed), we are definitely in for a treat. Matahi Drollet and Eimeo Czermak battled it out in what some are calling the “heat of the year.” Drollet took the win but both surfers got their waves.
Most of the scoring action comes in the first eight minutes (above). But those conditions are absolutely ideal. Let’s hope the WSL can shake its snake-bitten ways and get some bombing Teahupo’o for the final event of the year. The event window is August 11-20.
