Heading into the 59th Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, the stakes were higher than ever. With just two events left before mid-season cuts, the athletes were feeling the pressure and knew they had to put in their best performance if they wanted a chance at ringing “The Bell.”
The event did not disappoint. With a week’s worth of impressive surfing, a few superheat match-ups, and a number of high scoring rides, the event was one for the books. On finals day, two-time world champ Tyler Wright and Brazil’s Filipe Toledo cinched the win, making it the first win at the iconic event for both surfers.
