You know what would be nice? Surfing one of the world’s best waves with just a handful of friends, all of whom are very, very good surfers. Not only would you get to surf said world’s best wave, but you’d get to watch your friends score those same waves — which, as you well know, is almost as good as getting a good one yourself.
Such was the case for a handful of lucky professionals at Quiksilver’s Icons of Surf Super Session after the Barra de la Cruz event finished up. Jack Robinson and Steph Gilmore won the event, as you likely remember, and what an event it was, but the Super Session at the tail end was something to remember. Caroline Marks and Mikey Wright won out of an outstanding field of surfers, and they did it on a selection of throwback surfboards that any well-rounded surfer would love to get their feet on.
