Suffice it to say, this is a pretty mellow celebration of a World Title by today’s standards. This internet find comes from 1992, and it claims to be one of the first interviews Kelly Slater gave after winning World Title #1. This is the same year Microsoft released Windows 3.1, and television interviews were still done in black and white from time to time. And we’re guessing that’s not a fancy grayscale filter for artistic effect.
Anyway, here’s Kelly post ’92 title clinch, giving props to Curren and just “hoping” he can win another one and accomplish what his hero was able to. If he only knew then what he knows now.
