You know what’s sad? The state of surf videos these days. As social media skyrocketed in popularity, attention spans plummeted. No one cares much anymore about a full-length surf film when all the best parts have already been leaked, one by one, on Instagram. But back when surf videos were still great, Taylor Steele was making the greatest of them all.
In 1994, he released Focus. It had all the best surfers at the time: Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Taylor Knox, Shane Dorian, Benji Weatherly, Ross Williams, Timmy Curran, Kalani Robb, Keith Malloy, and a bunch of others. It had Pennywise, Unwritten Law, and Pegboy in the background, and it was peak-90s.
Now, Steele has done us all a favor and re-released it in its entirety on his Youtube channel, The Momentum Files. Take an hour out of your day to remember the greatness that was the 1990s!
