Tatiana Weston-Webb is quickly making a very deep mark in surfing. It’s rare to live up to the hype, but Weston-Webb is doing it–most recently at the Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro Women’s QS6000. With her win, she’s now the QS points leader.
“I’m so stoked,” Weston-Webb said. “It’s such a prestigious event because there’s so many great girls that have won here and I’m really happy to be a part of that tradition. My strategy was to take it one wave at a time and keep it slow instead of freaking out and rushing myself.”
Weston-Webb made her way through round after round with consistently high heat scores. The contest’s highest single wave score went to her when she dialed in a 9.33 in Round 16.
When it came to the final, she ended up facing off against an in form Conlogue, who, under any condition, is a force to be reckoned with. “It was difficult to be in the right spot for the right wave throughout the event,” Weston-Webb said. “I noticed the judges were scoring one really big turn on the outside and I tried to focus on doing one big maneuver in my heats. I’m really looking forward to the Vans US Open of Surfing this week, after hearing there may be some more waves and keeping my fingers crossed I do well there.”
