These images are part of my North Shore series, shot at Banzai Pipeline during the 2015 Pipe Masters. The waves were out of control, with surfers getting pounded as well as catching some of the most intense waves of the year.
The beach was packed with spectators lined up by the waters edge having to sprint inland each time a big set rolled in. The vibe on the final day was a mixture of heated anticipation and unparalleled excitement with nail-biting heats like Slater vs. Mick, and Mick. vs. Medina. It was really cool to be a part of.
