The Inertia

South Korea’s Wave Park is a huge place. So huge, in fact, that it lays claim to the title of “World’s Largest Surf Park.”

It was a staggeringly labor-intensive endeavor: in just a year and a half, the project went from breaking ground to opening doors. With 167,000 square meters of oceanfront, the Wave Park features Wavegarden technology in its pool. But it’s a lot more than just a wave pool: it’s an all-out resort. The pool that features 20 different wave types as well as waveless zones for kayaking, SUP, and swimming is the centerpiece of what will become a much larger attraction in its second stages, which are soon to come as construction continues. When it’s all said and done, Wave Park will consist of its wave pool plus six hotels, convention centers, marinas, and museums. The wave menu, judging from an ocean away, looks fantastic.

Recently, the folks over at Wave Park released footage of their Malibu Wave. Now, they’ve released the footage of the Turn Waves being tested. “Our test pilots surfed day and night to help our software programmers deliver you the best possible waves,” they wrote. “It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it!”
