There aren’t many waves on this planet as scary as the one at Shipstern Bluff. To any reasonable surfer, it doesn’t look even surfable. A weird, backless freak of a wave, steps in the face, and breaking over barely any water, Shippies isn’t for the faint of heart.
In the first week of July, a 15 second swell period showed up on the charts and the direction was good. Danny Griffith, Marti Paradisis, Zeb Critchlow, Wayne Cleveland, Max McGuiganand, and 16-year-old Noah Hassett all made sure they were there, and they put on a real show.
