When a good swell pops up anywhere in the world, you can bet that, within a few short hours — hell, sometimes minutes — we’ll be laying eyes on it. But what we almost NEVER get in those videos is what it actually sounds like out there. Well, the Smith brothers decided to do something about that.
On Christmas Eve, Pipeline was absolutely pumping. Koa strapped on a waterproof mic and paddled out. He recorded everything from wipeouts, second reef cleanup sets, and if you’ve got the patience to watch until the end, what he called “one of the “GNARLY WIPEOUTS OF HIS LIFE!”
