If you’re a Pipe surfer, you expect to get the axe every now and then. It’s not an easy wave to surf, but the rewards are well worth the trouble, as evidenced by the crowd. But when the waves get big, the consequences get bigger. So too does the reward, but you’ve got to be willing to commit to either a horrible wipeout or a ride that will be burned in your memory banks forever.
