You probably remember when, a few short weeks ago, Jaws fired up. It was exciting for all involved — a day that Jaws connoisseurs wait for all year. Maui’s North Shore lit up, and despite the excitement, the wave was surprisingly empty for most of the swell. “It was like a trip back in time watching these giant waves break with no one around,” wrote MROD Maui on YouTube.
There were lots of notable moments but one of the most notable, perhaps, was Nic Lamb surfing all alone. It could be the first time in 15 years or so that anyone’s surfed it solo with no safety. Another moment — just as notable but a little scarier — was a Jet Ski driver getting caught by a massive set. Luckily, he was fine and everyone made it to shore safely. It was a day to remember, that’s for sure.
