Southern California has been good lately. Like, really good. A seemingly unending run of swell has more tired shoulders in the surfing state than usual, and Californians couldn’t be happier about it. Black’s, one of the finest waves in a stretch of exceedingly fine waves, lit up like a firecracker on January 11th. A large WNW filled in, charged into the fabled spot, and served up 8-12 surf. As the tide dropped, the swell picked up and magic happened. “Local pros scored,” wrote SoCal Surfer on YouTube. “Boards were broken and canyon sets cleaned up the lineup.”
