More than 3000 surfers have contributed their local wave knowledge at science4surfing.org. By sharing this knowledge with science4surfing, surfers from around the world are joining a growing community of citizen scientists helping to improve our understanding of our coasts. This data will allow us to make better predictions about how coasts are changing and to make better decisions about how we can be better coastal stewards. The short survey is set to close on May 12th, so if you haven’t participated yet, now’s last your chance: visit www.science4surfing.org today – it takes less than 10 minutes!

No one observes the ocean as carefully as surfers. The survey, designed by Stanford University researchers in collaboration with partners in the surfing community, enables surfers to contribute these observations to science. Their collective responses will be used to address the questions that matter most to surfers: How will our surf spots change? How can we manage our coasts to protect the spots we love? Surfers worldwide are encouraged to participate by taking the short online survey, available at www.science4surfing.org.
